I have been looking at these for a couple of years and could not decide between the Rockwell and Fein units. When Rockwell came out with the RK5108K kit, I jumped on it. And it is an awesome tool for plunge cutting wood, plastic, or sheet rock.

I had a door frame that did not quite align with the door, preventing the door from staying closed. I was able to cut the frame loose and re-align it in just a few minutes. I should have bought a tool like this years ago!!

I agree that this tool will handle almost any job for the fix it yourself person. It is solidly built, and does not overheat like the cheaper models on the market.

The reason I am giving it 3 stars instead of 4 is the lack of documentation and instruction manual. At least mine didn’t come with any, and I couldn’t find anything on line. A DVD explaining the use of each accessory would have been easy to include and nice to have.

Great tool! I would recommend this to any do it yourself-er. I used it in my paver patio project and it performed just the way I hoped it would. The only improvement I could think of would be a quicker way to change out cutting implements. I did get this at a great price as a deal of the day item. My wife purchased a Fein Multimaster as my bithday gift. After comparing it with the Sonicrafter I had her return it and purchase the Sonicrafter instead. I believe this to be the best choice because of the excessive cost of the Fein accessories and near equal quality of both products. I’m more than satisfied with this decision after using the Sonicrafter.

The sonicrafter has the weight and feel of a well made tool. The assortment of accessories that came with the kit is

impressive. Do the math, and you will see that buying this large assortment all in one kit is a much better deal then getting a starter kit and adding accessories piece by piece. I have only used it a few times, but so far I am very impressed. With the quality I see so far, I will have to start considering the “new” Rockwell brand for future tool purchases also.
