Cant really review it because Amazons one day shipping is terrible. Recieved the movies I ordered on saturday but no player. What a rip off.

THIS MODEL DOES NOT HAVE THE DIGITAL COMPONENT OUTPUT NEEDED FOR SOME HOME THEATER SYSTEMS LIKE THE BOSE LIFESTYLE 25 II

Rarely would I ever rate a product 1 star, but I feel the need to hopefully drastically lower this products rating overall on amazon. After standing in Costco debating between this and the same priced Sony model, and checking the reviews on amazon on my iPhone (both the same star rating), I ended up going with the panasonic based on that it had a few more features and an SD card slot. Granted, would probably never use it, but it was there if I ever wanted. Now nowhere on the box does it say what audio connections it has.

As i’m installing our new 58″ plasma and existing Bose Lifestyle 25 II surround sound system and this panasonic blu-ray player, I notice that the way our existing dvd player connected to the Bose was through a single component (Red and White plugs) wire labeled “digital component” or something similar on the dvd player. It was right next to the analog output connection and the stereo red and white component plugs. The panasonic BD60 didn’t seem to have this digital component. Confused I looked in the manual and it said “the best way to connect to a home theater system is through the digital component” showing the plug I needed right next to the analog output and stereo left and right outputs. Then in small letters in brackets: [BD80].

Apparently, the BD60 doesn’t have that output. NOWHERE on the box or anywhere did it say that when I purchased it. The BD-80 is about $100 more. The Sony model has that output. I made the wrong choice.

Went back to Costco to exchange it today and the sony is now $50 more, promotion over.

One of the main features that got me to buy this unit was the mp3 playback from a usb drive. However, there is no shuffle feature. So, it always starts playing the same song from the same album. So now, I’m sick to hear one of my favorite songs. Who would design an mp3 player without a basic feature like shuffle? Moronic! Also, mp3 navigation is less than desired.

That’s major complaint. Other than that disappointment, the unit has lot’s of features (that I haven’t explored completely yet).

The reviews that mention that this machine sticks on video is TRUE. Panasonic mentions firmware updates but many of us are not tech savvy. I thought I had the firmware set up on a CD-R since I don’t have a broadband connection for the device but that did not work. This WILL stick on you so it’s not worth all the hassle. I ended up just doing a SONY 5 disc Upconvert which I highly recommend.

I was disappointed in this product. It was a gift and was sent in the product box,so it was not a surprise for the receiver as a Christmas present. The product claimed that it streamed videos, but that is not accurate. Netflix does not work with this product. This is why I purchased it for my son.
