Ok, so I’m a quant-dork and actually track my workout programs in a spreadsheet. This includes things like my daily body weight, body fat and what I eat all day (along with the usual list of workouts and stuff like that). During a recent training program I ate these builder bars after each workout with a glass of Muscle Milk. My body fat slowly increased while my weight stayed the same or even increased. i wasn’t looking to bulk up but build more muscle since in the past I had seen my total body weight drop too much during workout programs indicating I was losing muscle mass. That didn’t seem to happen when I used these protein bars. In addition I also saw good improvements in the amount of weight I was lifting.

These protein bars are surprisingly good. True, protein bars are never really great but these are really good and almost get to the point of me thinking I want one even when I haven’t worked out.

Buy these if if you are on a workout program where you want to add or maintain muscle weight.

Don’t buy these if you aren’t using them in conjunction with a workout program since they are high in protein and calories so you need to do something so your body makes proper use of the contents of these bars.

Note: There is an error on the detail page above for these bars….they don’t have 2-3g of protein each but rather 23g each.

Using the amazon subscription service was able to obtain these bars for <$1 each. I like the peanut butter and my wife likes the chocolate. They make an excellent snack for P90X.

My 15 year old son started playing HS baseball, and often the practices and games were hours after he had lunch. I needed something for him high in protein and at least relatively tasty (he still does not understand “It is good for me and will help me be a better athlete even if it doesn’t taste GREAT”), and it had to be portable. I brought home one of every high protein bar I could find (14!) and hands down these were the winners. Truly, some of those bars are AWFUL. My husband and I keep these at work as meal replacements or snacks; as a former reviewer pointed out, they are high in calories, so not really appropriate as a “dessert”.

These bars not only taste good, but done pack in a ton of calories if you want to push protein without pushing on extra pounds. They taste good with an interesting texture. I have eaten a bunch of protein bars and this is one of the best. I like the variety packs to avoid the same thing day in and out.

although choice is obviously limited, the average cost per bar makes this combo pack a great deal. The upside (or downside) is the flavors, while acceptable, are actually non-descript, rendering the lack of selection moot.
